Growing Up
I’ve always believed that when you grow up surrounded by animals, they shape who you are. Caring for animals and working hard wasn’t just something I did—it was a way of life. Growing up on a dairy and grain farm, my days were filled with responsibility, routine, and the kind of connection with animals that only comes from truly understanding them.
Today, I live just across the street from that very farm, where my parents still reside and farm. It’s a special place to raise my family, and I love that my two young boys (ages two and four) get to experience the same connection with animals and the outdoors that I did. My husband and I share a love for working with animals—we have horses and hobby farm animals, and for fun, we compete in cattle work with our horses.
A Life of Adventure
& Hard Work
Before returning home to build The Farm Pet Retreat, I spent years living in Calgary, Fort McMurray, and Montreal. While in Montreal, I owned a boarding facility, but my main focus at the time was competing as a national-level sprinter after being recruited to Calgary for track and field. I also worked as a personal trainer, and I’ve always found it fascinating how the principles of athletic training and dog training mirror each other—both require discipline, consistency, and fulfillment.
Building
My Dream
With years of experience in the pet industry, my husband and I built The Farm Pet Retreat from the ground up. I knew I wanted to create something different—a place where dogs could experience true care, structure, and enrichment in a way that feels natural to them. I made the choice to keep our facility small and intimate, allowing me to personally connect with every guest and ensure they receive the highest standard of care.
I am a certified hydrotherapist, groomer, and trainer, and I am always striving for more. Continued education is at the heart of everything I do—I believe that growth and learning never stop, especially in a field as dynamic as canine wellness. Whether it’s through boarding, training, hydrotherapy, or enrichment, my goal is to create a space where dogs thrive, not just exist.
At my core, I’m someone who loves what I do, values hard work, and believes that every dog and owner deserves the best possible experience. I’m so grateful to have built a life and a business that allows me to share this passion every day.
